Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO I GET TO THE TOUR DEPARTURE LOCATION?
If you have booked a Perth tour, please see this page with detailed instructions and map showing the departure location at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
If you have booked a Broome tour, please see this page with detailed instructions and map showing the departure location at Gantheaume Point beach, Broome.
DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SAIL TO COME ON BOARD STARSAND?
No. You relax. Starsand’s skipper and crew will take care of the sailing. But if you’d like to try your hand on the ropes, talk to our crew.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
It’s important to bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), bathers and a towel (for tours that include swimming), seasickness tablets (if needed) and your appetite for adventure.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Something comfortable and casual. It’s a good idea to bring a warm jacket in case it gets chilly on the water. Please no boots or high heels.
IS FOOD AVAILABLE?
Yes, food is provided on our charters. Refer to our individual tours to see what food is included. If you’re chartering the boat for a private function, we can arrange whatever catering you need or you can bring your own.
WHAT ABOUT ALCOHOLIC DRINKS?
The yacht is fully licensed. We sell a range of drinks and take cash or card.
IS THERE A TOILET ON THE BOAT?
Yes, we have a toilet on board below deck.
WILL I GET SEASICK?
Seasickness affects everyone differently. If you know or suspect you’re a sufferer, we advise you take a seasickness tablet before boarding. It also helps to stay on deck where there’s plenty of fresh air.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
There’s paid parking all around Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. For parking longer than 3 hours, we advise finding alternative, better suited parking locations using the City of Fremantle website. You can also catch the train and walk from Fremantle Train Station (which will take approximately 20 mins).
For our Broome tours, we offer a complimentary pick-up service for all our customers.
WHERE DO I GO FOR MY TOUR?
Starsand departs from the jetty in between Joe’s Fish Shack and Creatures Next Door (Little Creatures) on Mews Road in Fremantle. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
CAN I BRING KIDS ON STARSAND?
Yes. We welcome kids on board. If you have a child-size life jacket feel free to bring it along with you, otherwise we have kids life jackets on board. It is regulation that all children under 10 years of age wear one at all times. We’ll certainly keep an eye out but children on board Starsand are the responsibility of their parents.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
Your safety is our number one priority so if the weather is deemed unsafe, we will not continue with the tour. If Starsand Charters needs to cancel any tour due to weather or any other reason, we will notify you at least 48 hours before and help you to re-book your adventure to a different date. If you are unable to reschedule your experience, we can provide you with a refund.
WHAT IF WE CAN’T MAKE THE DATE BOOKED?
We do require at least 48 hours notice for any change of dates. In some cases there is a $50pp re-booking fee. There is a no refund policy for change of mind.
