10 DAYS SAILING THE KIMBERLEY FROM $3250.00PP - Departs and returns Broome.

DAY 1  You may wish to call Dazzling Darren  of Northern Transit, to arrange pick up with other guests to share the cost. Dazz’s Mobile is 0458130700 or you can make your own way to Gantheaume point. About 10 minute drive from Broome town or Cable Beach. The tender will be there to pick you up at 7am, from the beach. You are going to get wet feet and maybe a wet bum, so be prepared, as this is the start of your adventure with sailing on STARSAND. Once you are safely onboard STARSAND, you will be shown to your cabins and there will be a continental breakfast, with Tea and Coffee during which, you will be introduced to STARSAND and made aware of the safety elements of the yacht and some of the basic points of interest. This will be all very entertaining, as well as informative. We have now slipped the mooring lines and are heading North towards Cable Beach where we will hoist the sails, with your help or not as the case may be. Setting sail now for James Price Patches and on through the Lecepeed channel, by which time the sun will be setting and its time for the night sail. A delicious meal of Lasagne ala Maria will be served on the first night and Maria will continue to delight and amaze you, with her culinary skills during the trip. You will be offered the chance to be part of the watch system during the night, doing a 2 hour watch. If you’re lucky, you might get the 2am to 4am dog watch. It’s all part of the fun, but don’t worry, we are not going to drag you from your bunk kicking and screaming. It is strictly optional.

DAY2 When the sun rises, it will be over the Buccaneer Archipelago and we will be crossing King Sound, getting very close to our first stop Hidden Island where we will have a swim at the amazingly beautiful, white sandy beach of Silica Beach. The photos you will get of the white sand, turquoise water and STARSAND, anchored off shore, will be yours forever. After a couple of very refreshing hours of swimming and sunbathing, we will head off to Myridi  Bay for our first over night anchorage. Myridi Bay has a superb rock wall which will light up on sunset. We may also get the chance to encounter our friends the crocodiles.

DAY 3 Up with the sparrows, after a good nights rest, we set sail around Koolan Island en route for Talbot Bay and the Horizontal Water Falls.  Taking in the beauty and vibe, of this very special and powerful place. Known as the Kimberley. Whether, it’s the native sprits, or the age old rocks. It is impossible not to be taken and moved by what you are experiencing. Once we have anchored in Talbot Bay, there will be an excursion, along Cyclone Creek. With an informative talk, on the area and a carful lookout for, birds, turtles, sea snakes, rock wallabies and our old friends again, The Handbags. Now its time for your thrilling ride through the rip roaring Horizontal Falls on board the 600 horse power fast boat. An incredible experience you will never forget (Optional $35.00 per person). BBQ night tonight, with salad, cold beer and wine, or a tipple of something stronger.

DAY 4 Off with the out going tide, with a short stop at the top of Talbot Bay for a look at Turtle reef Trying to find the blue hole. Then, it’s on for a good sail across Collier Bay, through the King Fisher Islands and on to Raft Point. Time for a bit of exercise, with a good walk up the hill, following the age old pass of the Native elders, to take a look at some fine samples of ancient rock art. We will pay our respects to the Wandjina spirit and give the big old Boab a hug and a kiss on the way up. Here you will learn about some of the native tradition and about the name of Raft Point. Raft Point, offers a great over night anchorage and a spectacular sunset, on the red rocks of the Point and Steep Island across the Bay.

DAY 5 Today, we are going for a swim at one of the Kimberley’s best water falls and swimming holes Ruby Falls. Which is about an hour sail across Doubtful Bay and up Red cone Creek. This will be one of the  high lights of your trip and with a bit of effort and a short climb up the rocks, you can walk and swim all along the fresh water stream. Amongst the Lilly pads as it meanders through beautiful pandanas and other palms and trees. We will stay over night here, to enjoy the company of many a croc, during the night, as they stalk the boat. Don’t fall off here

Day 6 Once again, it’s off with the out going tide, to sail out to Montgomery Reef. 100 square miles of pristine reef system, which appears from the depths of the ocean at low tide. Marvel as this enormous area seems to rise up out of the ocean. We will be anchored in the cut and will be able to watch the run off, cascading down, off the reef. A ride further along the cut on the tender to spot Sea snakes, many many Turtles and any number of other marine life, in the crystal clear water. Back to STARSAND, to set sail, for the King Fisher Islands and a swim on the beach and over night anchorage.

DAY 7 Setting sail for Yampi Sound. Watch the sun rise over the Kimberley as we make headway for Crocodile Creek, a great place for a swim. By the time we get there the sun will have warmed up and you’ll be ready for it. Here, courtesy of the miners, of Cockatoo and Koolan Islands, we have a ladder to get to the first pool. There is also a concrete ramp for easy access into the bottom pool. For the more adventurous there is a rock climb up to another pool, which is well worth the climb. Back on board for lunch we set sail again for Silver Gull Creek, where, we will visit the Squatters Arms, home of Phil and Marion and a great place to swim in the pool tank, where the water is 32 degrees all year round and the view is to die for! Marion has a beautiful selection of jewelry and other gifts, T shirts, stubby holders etc all for sale, in the most isolated gift shop in the world

Day 8 Set sail in the am, destination Cape Leveque, across the King Sound and on our way back to Broome. Enjoy lunch on board, as we sail through to our destination. Arriving at Cap Leveque, there is time to have a good walk along the beach and up to the lighthouse and even down the other side to buy and ice cream. Back on board, we are off with the setting sun, en route for Broome town. The night watch is back and for those who wish, there is the chance to be part of the watch system again.

Day 9 As the sun rises, we will be almost there, depending very much on the wind and tide, we should drop anchor at cable Beach at 12.00 noon. Lunch will be served on board and there will be the chance to swim off the boat, or visit the beach, or even take a ride into town. Dinner will be the last BBQ, with the world famous STARSAND quiz night to follow. All questions will be relevant to the trip, with prizes for the winners

Day 10 Mooring at Gantheaume Point for a peaceful nights sleep, there will be a cooked Breakfast and time to sit and enjoy the company of newly made friends and companions, which will continue to be for a long time.
